. 5 of 7
AIRPORT Eu ene Ai ort -Parallel DATE 5/30/06
' Runwa Pro'ect
LOCATION Eugene, Oregon AIP PROJECT NO. 3-41-0018-35
Jab No. 4183
Chan a Order 16
CONTRACTOR Wildish Construction Co.
JUSTIFICATION FOR CHANGE
2.. Reason(s) for the change(s) (Continue on reverse if necessary)
2840 - Mod cations to isolation transformers in new and eristing signs
The transformers in these 28 new signs must be replaced prior to recircuiting to avoid over driving the sign lamps, causing
premature lamp Failure. After recircuiting is complete, the new signs will be fed from the new electrical vault and the
ratio style transformers will be reinstalled to allow the entire dedicated sign circuit to comply with FAA standards.
Replacing the non-isolation transformers with ratio style transformers in the 59 existing signs will provide proper Light
output using an FAA standard regulator output of 5.5 amps.
2850 - Rocksaw rental
A rocksaw was required to cut a trench through existing cement treated base adjacent to the intersection of Taxiways Papa
and Delta. The plans did not indicate to the contractor that they would encounter cement treated base after the asphalt was
removed by milling. It was determined that cutting a trench for the edge lights ducts and lights would do the least damage
to the pavement base and that it should be a project cost, not the contractor's responsibility.
2860 - Install eztender board for generator
The extender board is necessary to monitor the operation of the new generator and provide alarms to the airport lighting
control system (ALCS) as required so that corrective action can be taken in a timely manner. This communication board
and related wiring were not included in the original contract.
2870 - Radio controller modifications
The radio controller will enhance safety and conserve energy by allowing pilots to increase the intensity of the runway
edge lights after the air traffic control tower (ATCT) is closed. After 15 minutes, the intensity will be automatically
reduced to a lower level, consuming less electricity. In addition, the antenna was relocated from the original location on
the vault building to the higher SRE 1 building, providing a clear line of site to each normal glide path.
2880 - Install cages around two ezterior conduits at the electrical building
The cages will protect the PVC pipe and the lighting protection system from potential damage by vehicular traffic. This
work was not included in the original contract documents.
2890 - Sill plates at doors in electrical building
The new sill plates will provide a more durable surface for travel in and out of the building by the new Course Hinds
forklift, which was not anticipated during design.
2900 - Clean agent fire extinguishers in electrical building
The original fire extinguishers were replaced with clean agent fire extinguishers because they can extinguish fires without
damaging the expensive electrical equipment in the electrical building.
2910 -Wind cone approach roads on Runway 16R/34L
The new roads will provide airport operations with hard surface road access to the supplemental windcones, preventing the
tracking of mud on the runway.
5
