Actual dollar amount is $2,348.75, not $24,348.75.
Facilities did not install the MWMC project sign at the front gate and at the east end of the plant site. Greg thought that we
paid a contractor to install the signs and is checking into it. There were two W-1 irrigation lines hit by the contractor when
digging the holes for the signs. Rexius repaired the line at the front gate. That is the $75 dollar charge noted for Zone 3
(~ateral line. The W-1 irrigation line that was hit at the east sign location has not been repaired and is the responsibility of
the contractor who installed the sign as well as the $75.00 charge for the west sign, irrigation repair. This appears to be
taken care of.
The $608.00 dollar charge is for irrigation control wire damaged by MKB while extending the fence and road on the north
`side of the Secondary building along River Avenue. (CIP work) The repair should be completed by MKB. The quick fix is to
install four splice boxes and direct burry splice kits. Four splice boxes are un-acceptable in that short of a run and can
cause issues in the future. A new run of wire should be installed by MKB allowing for two splice boxes with 4' of extra wire
in each splice box to allow for re-splicing as issues arise in the future. The $608 quoted is to provide a new wire run from
a new splice boron the south side of the mowstrip (where the damage is) to the Zone E valve where they would splice to
the new wires running to the east. Note that two splice boxes from the River Avenue project already exist in this area -one
where the existing wires were originally to be spliced and a second set of splices at Zone E to address vandalism to the
wires. This was agreed to rather than have the landscape contractor remove and reinstall wires along the entire eastern
mainline, which would have provided a substandard wire installation as the mainline was already bedded in sand. This
work would keep only 2 splice boxes in this area. See the attached diagram.
« File: 3693-20071018-RiverAvenue-Irrigation-SecondaryW ireRun.pdf »
The $1,209.00 charge for installing 7 new heads in zone E is a design flaw. The irrigation zone had. head to head coverage
prior to the River Ave. upgrade and should be re-installed to the same standard with head to head coverage as part of the
River Ave. project. Zone E did not have head-to-head coverage prior to the River Avenue project. See the attached
survey information and associated notes. This was also previously confirmed with Marc Furney onsite as he noted that the
'awn area in question had significant dry and wet areas based an the previous irrigation coverage. The design as shown
on the plans replaced the eight heads in the same approximate origina! configuration which was less than head-to-head
coverage. The proposed $1,209 is to provide head-to-head irrigation coverage that is above and beyond the origina!
condition of this zone.
2
