PICADO Therese M
From: PETERSON Carrie A
IL Sent: Tuesday, December 02, 2003 10:53 AM
To: 'duanestarner@comcast.net'
Cc: PICADO Therese M
Subject: Eugene Gardens
Hi Carolyn, I am so sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Time gets away and my head keeps spinning! I had
wanted to do more extensive research and provide you with as much information as possible. Needing to do that is what
has delayed me, so in the interest of your deadline I will just have to be brief.
First off, you called to request permission to use your photographs of Owen Rose and Hendricks Rhododendron Gardens.
The answer to that is an emphatic YES! Please do. We are happy to be featured in your book, which sounded to me like
a fabulous resource for garden enthusiasts.
The contact information for both gardens is ....
City of Eugene
Parks and Open Space Division
1820 Roosevelt Blvd
Eugene, OR 97402
541-682-4800
http://www.ci.eugene.or.us/PW/PARKS/index.htm
Directions to Owen Rose Garden:
I-5 (headed North or South) take exit #194B, merging onto I-105. Take OR-99 N exit toward W. Eugene. Immediately
turn right on Madison, take an immediate right on W. 5th, and then an immediate left on N. Jefferson which leads into
Owen Rose Garden.
Directions to Hendricks Park:
I-5 headed south take exit #194 and follow signs to the University of Oregon. I-5 headed north take exit #192. Drive
into town on Franklin Blvd and turn south on Orchard St. Turn left on 19th Ave, right on Fairmount Blvd., left on Summit
Ave. Summit Ave climbs the hill into Hendricks Park.
Hendricks park has a fledgling friends group, but for sake of longevity of your book I don't think their contact information
should be listed.
The City offers a donation program at these two gardens, as well as throughout our parks system. We are currently
working on a web site redesign and information will be available about donation opportunities on that site (address listed
above) by January 1, 2004.
If you have any further questions or are in need of additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me. My
information is below. Again, I apologize for the delay, I hope that this information does not reach you too late.
Thank you for your support of our gardens, Carrie
Carrie Peterson
Park Development Coordinator
City of Eugene—Parks&Open Space Planning
1820 Roosevelt Blvd, Eugene,OR 97402
phone-(541)682-4907 fax-(541)682-4882
carrie.a.peterson@ci.eugene.or.us
1
