These inspections
are held periodically to:
1. Evaluate the structural integrity of your flood protection structures.
Also, to determine if existing fish and wildlife habitat threatens the facility's
structural integrity or could impede emergency operations.
2. Assess your ability to operate the flood protection structures during an
emergency and also prevent structural failure. We do this by evaluating your
plans, training, stockpiled supplies, availability of equipment and emergency
access.
3. Provide technical assistance and recommendations on how to operate
and maintain your flood protection.
The enclosed Annual Inspection Report summarizes the findings of the
inspection and lists both required and recommended corrective actions. A well
operating maintenance program is very evident throughout your flood control
system. Your City is to be commended for the maintenance work accomplished
during the past year. As noted in the report, brush and tree removal is
recommended at the indicated locations. Several encroachments along the levee
shoulders need to be reviewed. They will really limit access to the channel during
times of-flooding.
'Cour facility's ability to function as designed is determined to be
acceptable. Therefore, your facilities are eligible for rehabilitation consideration
should they be damaged significantly during a flood event.
