•
•
AMAZON CREEK CHANNEL IMPROVEMENT - PROJECT NO. 15-01 (Continued)
d. Berry vines were noted on the right bank of the channel
side slope downstream of the fairgrounds and extending to Polk
Street (approx. 200 feet in length) . The vines restrict
inspection of the channel and create habitat for burrowing
animals.
e. Sediment deposition in the channel was noted at the
following locations: upstream of Oak Patch Road (approx. 100
feet in length) ; and upstream of Belt Line Road (approx. 300 feet
in length) .
f. Encroachments on the right-of-way were noted at the
following locations: scrap steel is stored along sections of the
shoulder (right bank) upstream of Oak Patch Road; a fence is
located along the shoulder (right bank) at the county
fairgrounds; and several mobile homes (left bank) are located
near the shoulder of the channel immediately upstream of Danebo
Road. Though these encroachments do not impact the integrity of
the project, they will limit access for construction equipment in
- these areas during maintenance operations and will restrict
construction operations during times of flooding.
6. RESOLUTION OF PERMITS: None.
7 . REQUIRED MAINTENANCE TO ENSURE PROJECT INTEGRITY: Listed in
order of priority are the following maintenance items that should
be corrected prior to the next inspection:
LOCATION REQUIRED MAINTENANCE ESTIMATED QUANTITIES
Various Repair channel slide approx. 470LF
slope
Channel between Selective mowing, and 0. 5 acre
26th and 33rd clearing of trees and
Avenues brush in channel
Various Remove sediment from approx. 200 cubic yds
channel
(RB) between Remove berry vines 0. 1 acre
Fairgrounds and from channel side
Polk St._. slope
