Your facilities ability to function as designed is
determined to be acceptable. Therefore, your facilities are
eligible for rehabilitation consideration should they be damaged
significantly during a flood event.
The level of flood emergency preparedness within your
District was discussed during the inspection. Your
organization's capability to operate during a flooding emergency
appears acceptable. Access to your levee for emergency operations
appears satisfactory. Your plan prepared in May 1993 appears
quite satisfactory.
To assist you in preparing for a flood emergency, we
suggest you participate in a flood emergency exercise at your
first opportunity. You can contact Ike Jensen by phone at 687-
4160 at the Lane County Emergency Management Office for
additional information. We can assist by scheduling training to
fit your needs, including flood fighting techniques with sand
bags and information regarding Corps of Engineer Emergency
authorities. Gene Shott indicated that sandbag training is
desired in the near future.
In January of this year, a Customer Satisfaction Survey was
sent to your organization by the Portland District. We
appreciate all comments that have been returned to us. We are
striving to improve our service to you. If you did not have an
opportunity to return the comments on a survey form feel free now
to return it to us. We can send a form to you if you desire.
If we can assist you further with the operation and
maintenance of your flood protection facilities and with your
emergency preparedness, please contact Mr. Les Miller, Chief,
Readiness Branch, at (503) 326-6099 .
Sincerely,
Kenneth H. Patterson, P. E.
Chief, Operations Division
Enclosure
