We are <br /> very pleased that you have initiated an escalated mechanical <br /> maintenance program on the flood channels on which the City and the <br /> Soil Conservation Service have executed operation and maintenance <br /> agreements . <br /> As we explained in our letter of November of last year, we believe <br /> it is essential that maintenance be performed so that the channels <br /> will provide the level of protection for which they were designed. <br /> We are in full agreement with the City ' s decision to use mechanical <br /> means to control the vegetation in the flood channels .
