<br /> Downtown Planning Open House
<br /> A Downtown Planning Open House will take place on Monday, June 30 from 4:30- 7:00 p.m. in the Tykeson-Bascom
<br /> Room at the Eugene Public Library. The event is co-sponsored by City of Eugene Planning and Development
<br /> Department, Downtown Neighborhood Association, Downtown Eugene, Inc., and the City Club of Eugene.
<br /> The Downtown Planning Open House will focus on planning issues affecting downtown. These include the updated
<br /> Downtown Plan, the Central Area Transportation Study, the Riverfront Research Park and Downtown Urban Renewal
<br /> Districts, and financial implementation tools such as the Multi-Unity Property Tax Exemption (MUPTE) for housing
<br /> development.
<br /> The Open House provides an opportunity for public information and involvement prior to the public hearing on the
<br /> Downtown Plan and related Metro Plan amendments before the Eugene Planning Commission. That hearing is
<br /> scheduled for Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at 6:00 p.m. in City Council Chamber. At the Open House, members of the public
<br /> will have the opportunity to ask questions and submit written testimony to be presented to the Planning Commission. For

<br /> We Are Bethel Celebration - Bringing the Community Together
<br /> On May 31, Bethel Weed and Seed and other community
<br /> organizations collaborated to organize a unique community
<br /> building event, the 2nd annual We Are Bethel" celebration. The
<br /> goal of the celebration was to bring people together to celebrate
<br /> the richness of the Bethel neighborhood and to promote
<br /> neighborhood dialogue and community safety. The sun was

<br /> Eugene Police canine unit. Musical performances ran throughout
<br /> the day, including a featured performance by local band Shelley James Musicbox, Bethel School District student
<br /> performances, and a local Cuban band, Azuquita.
<br /> Post event data indicates that organizers, staff, and community members agree that the celebration was a huge success.
