In
addition,Parks and Open Space Planning,in conjunction with the consultants, held a public input session
in June to solicit ideas and suggestions from users before the park was designed. These innovative
approaches resulted in creating a popular facility that meets the needs of a variety of skill levels and has
something for everyone.
Elsewhere in the park, construction of lighting, irrigation, and landscaping of the parking areas is currently
under way. Work is scheduled to be complete by the end of November. A public meeting is scheduled for
late November to discuss the next phase of improvements at the park. Additional planned amenities
include a restroom,children's play area,sidewalks,a dog-off leash area,running trail,and picnic facilities
to name a few. Construction of the next phase of improvements, which will include some of the above,is
proposed for 2003.
Delta Ponds
Phase:Planning and design
The final feasibility study report for the restoration project has been completed by the Army Corps of
Engineers(ACE),and the report has gone to the ACE regional headquarters for review and approval.
Construction is anticipated to begin in 2003,pending ACE approvals.
Cor POS Quarterly Update: 10/31/02 2
