All these projects are funded by the parks and open space
bond measure approved by voters in 1998.
According to construction manager Kevin Finney, Skyview Park is 99.9% complete. Located between the end of Hawkins
Lane and Timberline Drive, the park is in a spectacular natural setting with unobstructed views of Eugene's south hills, a
wetland boardwalk, several large Oregon white oak trees and two small stands of native forest as well as innovative play
equipment and an irrigated playfield.
Airspeed Skateparks, the firm hired to design and build the Bethel skatepark, broke ground on the project July 29. The
Florence-based firm is a design/build skatepark specialist which has constructed facilities across the country, most
recently in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Airspeed tailored the design of the skatepark to reflect input gathered from a public
meeting attended by many Bethel area youth in June. The park is anticipated to be completed by mid-October.
Awbrey Park neighbors are invited to help identify park improvements by participating in a workshop next Wednesday,
'\ugust 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the park on the corner of River Road and Spring Creek Drive. This is the first stage of
3athering input from neighbors to develop a master plan. Construction is scheduled for summer 2003.
The Alton Baker boat ramp project went out to bid July 26. The bid closes August 16, and construction is scheduled to be
completed by the end of October. The launch has been long anticipated by the local boating community as a replacement
for the informal boat launch on the Willamette River that was closed in 1996. The new facility will include a concrete boat
ramp and access road, parking for 12 boat trailers, lighting, landscaping, and irrigation.
For more information on Parks and Open Space projects, please see http://www.ci.eugene.or.us/pw/parks/index.htm
To unsubscribe/change profile:
http://www.mailermailer.com/x?u=8737372,$1$MIEIT$OaD5P2BEmgYg1 QM4Q005TO
To subscribe:
http://www.mailermailer.com/x?oid=05492e
Email list management powered by http://MailerMailer.com
1
