EUGENE newo relea ..58 <br /> March 28, 2002 <br /> CONTACT: <br /> • Troy Kreger, NeighborWoods Coordinator, City of Eugene, 682-4831 <br /> • Therese Picado, Public Information Specialist, Parks and Open Space, City of Eugene, 682- <br /> 4814 <br /> FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> VOLUNTEERS CAN HELP BEAUTIFY DOWNTOWN IN TREE PLANTING PROJECT <br /> The City of Eugene NeighborWoods Program, in conjunction with Eugene Tree <br /> Foundation, is hosting the fifth Trees for Concrete project this Saturday, March 30, at 9 a.m. <br /> Aimed at beautifying downtown Eugene, the project targets streets where the entire area <br /> between the curb and buildings is all concrete, leaving no space for trees. <br /> Saturday's project involves planting 10 new trees on West 8,h Avenue between <br /> (Ise Charnelton and Lincoln, near WOW Hall, where sections of concrete sidewalk have been <br /> removed and planting sites have been prepared. Community members are encouraged to <br /> participate and contribute to enhancing the downtown Eugene environment. <br /> For more information, call 682-4831. <br /> ### <br />
