Public Works
Maintenance Division
MEMORANDUM
City of Eugene
1820 Roosevelt Boulevard
Eugene, Oregon 97402
(541) 687 -5220
(541) 683 -6883 FAX
Date: May 31, 1996
To: Councilor Torrey
From: Kevin Foerstler 7'q4 e::
Subject: Vegetation maintenance of drainage right -of -way along the east side of Delta
Highway
The City of Eugene, Public Works Maintenance will be contracting for the North Delta Highway
Ditch Rehabilitation Project. This project is scheduled to begin around July 1, 1996. The work will
consist of placing a 12 inch diameter perforated culvert in the existing drainage ditch and filling in
of the ditch. Upon completion of the project on September 1, 1996, the area will be seeded with low
growing wildflowers in the fall. This project will help improve drainage water quality as well as
providing a shallow swale with gently sloping sides, which will be much easier for adjacent property
owners to maintain for vegetation control. The current steep slope and deep ditch has been a burden
upon property owners attempting to control vegetation to City Code specifications.
Enclosed for your reference is a list of the properties which are adjacent to the project area and copy
of a letter which has been sent to the adjacent property owners to inform them of this project. If you
have any questions, please contact Kevin Foerstler at 683 -6821, or Brian Elliott at 984 -4902.
cc: Bob Hammitt
Johnny Medlin
Scott Plamondon
Brian Elliott
