Citizen interest in this park was high several years ago. There may be some volunteer help.
Hawkins View -- $300,000: Zoned RA -PD; no development plan; CUP needed; adjacent wetlands
projected to be donated to the park when mitigation work is accepted. POS objective: Low level
of park development, but to include a playfield (graded by developer, sized to accommodate
youth soccer), playground and some paths /street side walks and tree plantings.
Irwin Park -- $470,000: Zoned RA & PL (one lot); development plan prepared based on
neighborhood input in 1989 - 90; no CUP based on that plan. Minor improvements have
(nevertheless) been made over a number of years, driven by neighborhood requests, and the
original size of the park was reduced by the sale of property not contiguous to the main body of
the park. POS objective: Develop more of the park with dual purpose athletic field, paved paths
and off - street parking, expanded play equipment, more park furnishings, general landscaping and
irrigation. It is not expected that the park can be finished for this budget.
Lark Park -- $50,000: Zoned RA; (SR or no permit) POS objective: Install irrigated turf,
playground features accessible to the disabled, trees. (Initial development provided by developer
of subdivision for Parks SDC credit.)
Laurel Hill Park -- $30,000: Zoned RA and RAPD; development plan for park prepared in 1968,
with initial development in 1969. For no new park activity /change of use, the opinion was
offered that a CUP would not be needed for the POS objective: Extend park east about 100 feet
to Moon Mountain Drive with irrigated turf, trees, and street sidewalks. Funds are currently
budgeted in Fund 311 to rebuild the irrigation system. The new work should be coordinated with
the budgeted renovation.
Marche Chase Park -- $120,000: Zoned RA; no plan; needs CUP. POS objective: Develop about
one acre (unwooded portion) with play equipment, turf, irrigation, paved paths, maybe
basketball, all subject to citizen input.
Milton Park -- $25,000: Zoned PL; developed, but POS objective: needs street sidewalks and
paths extended into the park; update play equipment if funding allows.
Oakmont Park -- $505,000: Zoned RA; no planning; CUP needed. POS objective: Complete park
development that includes softball field, overlapping soccer field, playground and general
landscape development.
Shadow Wood Park -- $60,000: Zoned RA; CUP approved plan. POS objective: Develop as much
of the park as planned. A neighborhood fund raising effort has raised $3000+ which should
ideally pay for some special feature of their choice. Pledges of more donations were tentative,
and might be forthcoming if certain features or a level of development could be achieved with
those additional donations.
Skinner Butte Park -- $300,000: Zoned PL; no development plan; high neighborhood interest;
related traffic and housing issues that should be resolved before implementing the POS objective:
