Softball field, sand volleyball, related parking and landscaping. The Whiteaker Community
Council (WCC) wants to undertake the planning of all this themselves and offer a plan to the
City. City staff from Planning, Transportation and Maintenance will meet in January to discuss
the planning process and advise the WCC on process.
Sterling Woods Park -- $250,000: Park not yet purchased; if successful, closing expected early in
`99; zoning will be done with subdivision development, expecting to be RA or R1, with a CUP
required for development. POS objective: General development of a neighborhood park. If the
acquisition effort fails, there is a second site with a willing seller (as of a year ago), which would
allow progress on park development on a slightly postponed schedule.
Trainsong Park -- $85,000. Zoned RA; CUP approved with some specific requests for street cul-
de -sac. CUP modification may be needed for POS objective: complete park, including an
outfield for the ball diamond that was constructed a few years ago following neighborhood
request.
Walnut Grove -- $250,000. Not yet purchased; owned by Development Department with an
agreement to sell to PW for park purposes. Acquisition by SDF; planning needed for CUP. POS
objective: Develop approximately 2 acres for neighborhood park.
PARK SITE ACQUISITION
TENTATIVE PRIORITIES FOR ACQUIRING
Thompson Park (Site 37): Negotiation in progress. Owner is also working with developers.
Ridgeline at Willamette St. (49): Negotiation started. Willing seller.
Amazon Headwaters (52): In contact with two owners of two parcels; pace of negotiation
controlled by owners. Expecting positive results eventually.
Chase Gardens (46): Have had discussion with owners. No resolution at this point.
Lone Oak Park (39): Have talked with owner of targeted parcel. We can have this parcel via a
trade, involving a purchase of a neighboring parcel that meets the owner /developer's needs.
River Road Area (40): No contacts. Area is infilling rapidly.
Santa Clara (38): No contacts. Area is infilling rapidly
Willow Creek (42): Land values should be increasing fast this close to Hyundai.
Bethel (41): Site needed in context of nodal development planning.
