4. South Eugene High School (SEHS).
There will be a multi -sport synthetic athletic field similar to the one planned for
SHS, to be located just to the north of the existing track.
There will be no youth sports park components at this location.
5. North Eugene High School (NEHS).
There will be a multi -sport synthetic athletic field similar to the one planned for
CHS, to be located within the track.
There will be no youth sports park components at this location.
The level of design and estimate for the synthetic surface athletic fields is approximately schematic
design. The level of design and estimate for the youth sports park components is conceptual (pre -
or early schematic design).
Design
A single prime architecture (or landscape architecture) firm will be employed by the District to
design and perform construction administration for all the components of items 1 -2, and 4 -5
above. The same firm or another firm will be employed to design and perform construction
administration for the youth sports park at Cal Young Middle School.
We anticipate at least two meetings with community groups during the design process for each of
the sub - projects 1 -2 and 4 -5 (i.e., a total of approximately 8 community meetings). The timing of
the meetings will need to be determined. One possibility is for meeting near the completion of
schematic design and a follow -up meeting at the end of design development. We anticipate a pre -
schematic design meeting with interested participants to design the skate board park at CHS.
The design process for the youth sports park at CYMS will most likely involve a pre- schematic
meeting with interested participants to discuss and "co- design" the skate board park component.
There would be at least one other meeting with the community at a later stage of design.
The architecture firm will report to the Facilities Management Department (FM) of School
District 4J. We intend to assign a project manager to this project, who may be a City employee
working with the 4J team.
Design and Construction Scope and Schedule
We anticipate being able to execute a contract with the selected architecture or landscape
architecture firm(s) by mid August. Programming and design will begin shortly thereafter. All
design, construction drawings, and bid specifications will need to be completed by December 15,
1999. We anticipate going to bid approximately January 1, 2000. It is our current intention to
