•
Further development of Cal Young athletic fields would further have negative impacts on
the value of the private residential property we own and pay city taxes on. I resent the
format of this "workshop ". The wording and mechanism of feedback is obviously slanted
towards the positive aspects of such a "sports complex" proposal. In spite of your
dismissal to the contrary, your presentation tonight smacks of a "done deal" to spend the
money where you feel we (the taxpayers) would eventually see the merits of your
decisions.
• The Gilham Elementary property is larger, and might very well suit the purpose of the
sports complex design. Certainly, there is more room for parking at that site, compared
to the Cal Young site. The busy intersection of Gilham and Crescent could be intensified
if you proceed to develop the Cal Young site, conversely, the Gilham site is remote from
the busy intersection, yet is served well by Gilham St. and from the West by Delta
Highway.
Cal Young Youth Sports Park
Page 7
Introductory Meeting
