Automobile Parking
The local code determines the number of parking spaces required for public high schools by
the number of teaching stations plus the size of the auditorium (EC 9.586(b)8). Therefore, a
parking analysis is not required by the code and no new parking is required. If District 4J does
desire additional parking, staff encourages that this need be met on -site rather than creating
additional impact to the public right -of -way.
If additional auto parking space is proposed by District 4J, then all parking areas internally
accessible to the new area (i.e. don't have to travel out into the R/W to enter another on -site
parking area) would be required to be upgraded to current parking area standards including
landscaping, interior parking islands etc. In addition, a parking analysis would need to be done
to determine if minimum and maximum parking requirements were met on the development
site. For more information please contact Mike Mckerrow, Land Use Supervisor, at 682 -5251.
Is there a limit to the distance between the accessible parking areas and the field entrances?
The only stipulation for accessible parking is that it be located on the shortest accessible route
per Oregon Structural Specialty Code (OSSC) section 1104.5. This means that all accessible
spaces must be located in the parking area nearest the field. For more information please contact
Eric Swanstrom, Code Analyst, at 682 -5229.
Is there a requirement to illuminate the accessible path of travel from the parking area to the
fields?
Accessible path illumination is not required by local code on property zoned as "PL" (EC
9.597(e)). The only building code requirement for lighting is that for means of egress. Unless
the accessible route is used as a means of egress to the public right -of -way, it is not required
to be illuminated. See information provided with question pertaining to illumination and means
of egress. For more information please contact Eric Swanstrom, Code Analyst, at 682 - 5229.
Emergency Vehicle Access
What are the requirements for access to each field site by fire apparatus?
The answer to this question will be provided at our earliest opportunity next week.
Fire Hydrants
What are the requirements for locations of fire hydrants at each field site?
The answer to this question will be provided at our earliest opportunity next week.
Bleacher Seating
Is the method as proposed in the WBGS documentation a correct one in which to calculate aisle
widths for outdoor bleachers?
The proposed method to calculate aisle widths is correct provided you have used an occupant
load factor of 1:18 inches of bench space as outlined in OSSC section 1008.5.3 and as long
