In
that discussion, I informed you that I have been asked to become
involved with this issue in the hopes that I can help resolve the
problems associated with you gaining a legal access for a relocated
house at 1565 Jefferson Alley.
In short, 1565 Jefferson Alley is a land- locked parcel between 16 and
17 avenues, and the only public access that is available is onto an
unimproved portion of the Jefferson Alley. You have had difficulty in
Parks and Open ettin the necessary permits for the house you moved onto this
property due to not having an improved public access available to the
Parks Maintenance property.
Urban Forestry
Various staff up to and including the City Manager have met to discuss
Wetland a nd Open the issues around this situation. It is our opinion that a permanent terwa
y solution to this issue needs to be determined. In our evaluation of the
situation, there appear to be four options.
1. Sell the property in question to one of the abutting land
owners.
In my conversations with the abutting neighbors, their preferred
resolution would be for you to sell the property in question to one of
them. I do believe there is some level of interest on the part of the
neighbors in doing this. In my conversations with you, it seems the
barrier to this solution may well be a difficulty in coming to agreement
on a fair price for this parcel. You have told me that to recover your
costs for acquiring the property and relocating it, you feel you would
• need approximately $80,000.
2. Process an alley vacation and establish a new alley to
the west of the existing alley.
In my conversations with the abutting neighbors, there is some level of
interest in this option. The barrier to this option may be the cost and /or
1
