• a $10,000 grant from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to produce four interpretive panels about wildlife in
the park
• Working with community donors and the Eugene Parks Foundation to raise funds for placement of Ruth Bascom
Riverbank bike trail directional signs at each of the bridges over the Willamette River
• Partnering with Oregon Track Club to contribute volunteer labor to the construction and or installation of one or more
kiosks.
• Designating $10,000 of City funds for materials and contracting related to kiosk construction.
• Utilizing the City Graphics department to update the Pre's Trail maps, Riverbank trail maps and develop a
wayfinding map for Alton Baker.
We are also asking that the University contribute to this project based on our intergovernmental agreement from 2002.
Item 7.3 states that the University is responsible for all costs related to signs intended to reduce damage to Alton Baker
Park by patrons of Autzen Stadium. Instead of going the regulatory route, and using signs to tell individuals WHATthey
can and can't do, our tact is to be more broad in our approach to educating individuals about WHY its important to be
respectful of the park and HOWto get from one place to the next while staying on trails.
We estimate that each kiosk will cost approximately $5,000. This includes time and materials for construction and
installation, as well as the production of the signs themselves. As you can see, we are pooling together many various
resources to make the project whole while reducing the financial burden on any one party.
Let's talk about this once you've had a chance to consider it.
