He believed that <br /> WISTEC was essential to the community. He proposed Option 2. <br /> Paul Nicholson, 1855 East 28 Avenue, said that he supported both the idea of saving WISTEC <br /> and the idea of a BMX facility in Eugene. He thanked the council for its decision on the West <br /> Eugene Parkway issue and commented that it had acted in the interests of the public. <br /> Tim Bloch, 220 East 42 Avenue, commented that the University of Oregon was healthy but that <br /> WISTEC needed the help of the council. <br /> Jim Hale, 1715 Linea Avenue, maintained that the council was no longer representative of the city <br /> and called for an expedited process in ward redistricting. <br /> Thomas Stewart, 3420 Lakeside Drive, spoke in support of the Autzen Stadium code exemption. <br /> He said that the expansion of the stadium would have a positive economic effect on Eugene and <br /> stressed that children benefitted from sports as well as science. <br /> Mark Rabinowitz, 28549 Sutherlin Lane, thanked the council for its decision on what he termed <br /> the West Eugene " Porkway." He <br /> stressed its importance to the community. <br /> Howard Bonnett, 1835 East 28 Avenue, spoke about the West Eugene Parkway. He stressed <br /> the importance of recognizing the competition for Tong -range capital funding for transportation <br /> needs. He noted that there was a $55 million backlog for reconstruction of the City's road system. <br /> Because of that need, he suggested that the residents who were pushing for the parkway needed <br /> to think about priorities. <br /> Ray Wolfe, 1473 Luella Street, maintained that the West Eugene Parkway was not needed since <br /> there was a coming energy crisis. <br /> Bayard McConnaughey, 1653 Fairmount Boulevard, supported the council decision on the West <br /> Eugene Parkway. He said that the council acted with intelligence, foresight, and courage. He <br /> said that the parkway was one of the most damaging, expensive, and useless projects ever <br /> considered by City officials. <br /> Evelyn McConnaughey, 1653 Fairmount, commented that the council acted responsibly in its <br /> West Eugene Parkway decision. <br /> John Herberg, 568 Fenster Street, reiterated the comments of Jan Wostmann and called for <br /> broad representation of Eugene citizens in ward redistricting. <br /> Andrew Peare, 410 East 34 Avenue, spoke in favor of the council decision on the West Eugene <br /> Parkway.
