VII. REPORTS BY SUBCOMMITTEES
For new members, Ms. Ullmann said the subcommittees met much more frequently than the full CPC.
She said new members should decide which subcommittee to associate with and begin attending
meetings.
A. University of Oregon
Ms. McKenzie reported for Mr. Peara. She said the final stages of application approval had been reached
for making the Yurt a permanent structure. She said there would be better insulation and power supplied
to the structure. She said one of the conditions was the requirement for an emergency turn around for
fire /ems services. She said two to three feet of gravel would be added to the area that was already being
used as a pull out for cars.
Mr. Biggs raised concern that the widened areas could be used for off street parking and questioned
whether that could be restricted.
Ms. McKenzie said there were already signs in place.
B. Signage
No report.
C. Wildlife Habitat
Mr. Fredette said the subcommittee met six weeks previously and oriented new members to what the
committee had worked on and future plans. He said people interested in attending the meeting to be held
the following week should talk to him after the current meeting.
D. Outreach
Ms. Jones said the subcommittee had met before the current meeting and reported that there had been a
discussion of a three dimensional display on the third floor display cases at the public library for
Calapuyah tribe. She said there was a desire to make the display similar to the talking stones that had
been used in the park.
Ms. Reddoor said if anyone from the committee had specific ideas about the components of the display
they should talk to her. She added that a three dimensional display was desired rather than simple text.
In response to a question from Mr. Biggs regarding whether the focus would be the stones, the park or the
culture, Ms. Reddoor said all three would be included.
In response to a question from Mr. Biggs regarding whether the city of Springfield library would also be
included, Ms. Reddoor remarked that this was a good idea and would look into possibilities.
VIII.
