Ms. Ullmann reported that Mr. Sonnichson had spoken to Chief Lehner regarding bicycle patrols in the
park during the Fourth of July celebrations. She said the chief had said he would try to provide bicycle
patrols near the park for the holiday.
Mr. Sonnichson said he had walked the area and found less evidence of use of illegal fireworks in the
park area.
Ms. Jones said there had been a concern raised because a portion of the park had been blocked off during
the holiday.
Ms. Ullmann noted that past committee member Art Farley had made a motion before he left the
committee. She said the committee had been short of membership and the matter had not been settled.
She distributed the draft statement to be submitted to the City Council and the Willamalane Board.
Mr. Biggs raised concern that there were new members on the committee who had not had time to review
the statement.
Ms. Ullmann provided background information on the motion. She said there were concerns about
keeping motorized traffic out of the natural area. She said there had been talk over an extra or an
expanded bridge that would impact the park. She said the proposed statement reiterated the statement in
the park plan to prohibit motorized vehicles in the park. There was some confusion over the wording of
the distributed statement and it was determined to be an earlier version and not the most current one.
Mr. Biggs, seconded by Mr. Fredette, moved to table the matter until the next meeting.
The motion passed unanimously.
IX. NEW BUSINESS
There was no new business.
X. SET NEXT MEETING DATE
The next meeting was scheduled for October 13 at 6 pm.
XI. ADJOURN
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm.
(Recorded by Joe Sams)
MINUTES — Whilamut Natural Area CPC Meeting July 14, 2005 Page 6
