APPROVAL OF JULY 14, 2005 MINUTES <br />It was noted that the word "Kalapuya" had been spelled incorrectly in the minutes of the previous meeting. <br />Mr. Fredette, seconded by Mr. Biggs, moved to approve the minutes of July 14, 2005 as <br />amended. The motion passed unanimously. <br />V. STAFF REPORTS <br />a. Willamalane <br />Ms. Gershow said the Habitat Subcommittee had met and collated comments from the draft Restoration and <br />Monitoring Plan for the Eastgate Woodlands of the Whilamut Natural Area that had been distributed at the <br />previous meeting. She said Pat French had incorporated comments from the habitat subcommittee and CPC <br />members. She distributed new copies of the plan to members. She said the plan had been administratively <br />adopted by Willamalane but noted that the plan would change as science and technology changed. She urged <br />members to contact Ms. French with any questions at 736 -4055. She said questions could also be sent to <br />Pat.f c@willamalane.org . Ms. Gershow reiterated that Ms. French would be taking over Willamalane's staff <br />liaison duties, and would attend the January meeting. <br />Claire Porter, Willamalane's new Environmental Outreach Coordinator, said her contact number was 736.4048 <br />or claire.pgwillamalane.org She encouraged members to contact her with questions, concerns, or ideas. She <br />expressed a strong desire to clear invasive species out of the natural area and remarked that she would be <br />starting this work in the third week of November. She invited members to join her in her efforts of invasive <br />plant removal from the park. <br />In response to a question from Ms. Ullmann regarding whether she had access to Youth Corp volunteers to help <br />with invasive plant removal, Ms. Porter said she would access the Youth Corp for blackberry removal work. <br />She added that she would also contact service learning groups in Eugene and Springfield to help with the <br />invasive plant removal efforts. <br />Ms. Gershow said there would be one Springfield committee position on the CPC open at the beginning of 2006. <br />She said notices would be posted and a schedule put in place so that the position would be filled by the time of <br />the January meeting. <br />Ms. Gershow said she, Mr. Taylor, and Ms. French had met with Mary Walston at the City of Eugene's City <br />Manager's Office to discuss a variety of application and recruitment issues that had arisen. She said Ms. <br />Walston had not been using the supplemental questionnaire for the current round of applications. She said Ms. <br />Walston had agreed to use the supplemental questionnaire for committee applications and said the supplemental <br />application would be used from now on since it was a useful staff tool for recruitment. She noted that the <br />deadline for current applications had been extended so that applicants who had not filled out the supplemental <br />information could do so. She said the recruitment schedule had also been discussed since some people had <br />received late or confusing notices about the recruitment period. She added that Ms. Walston had agreed to <br />provide clearer and more timely information.
