Bike Parking Area Enhancement
Reason for enhancement:
• The current bike parking for the Cuthbert Amphitheater has insufficient bike
racks to accommodate the need of the users.
• The area is unsightly and aesthetically unpleasing. The area devalues the Hayes
Memorial Garden as well as the Cuthbert Amphitheater.
• It has the appearance of being an after thought. It sends a message to the
community that the city doesn't care or do much to promote alternative modes of
transportation.
Scope of Work:
• Remove all racks, leaving only the ones that can accommodate 10 bikes. Look
for similar replacements, install
• Apply herbicide to vegetation in the gravel area
• Install a gravel retaining boarder. 6X6 timbers
• Cap existing gravel with ' /a" minus, roll and compact
Cost Break Down: Material/Labor
• New/Used bike racks $ ?. ??
• Herbicide application $ 100.00
• Retaining Boarder $ 1475.00
• Gravel overlay /compacting $ 757.00
Involved Parties:
• Checking in with Lee Shoemaker to see if he is aware of, or has bike racks that
we could use for this project. (PW/ENG)
• Herbicide application, retaining border, and gravel placement. These items could
be undertaken by (POS)
Funding Source:
• Yet to be determined
* The current location of the bike parking area may have to be relocated. This is
dependant on the next phase and time frame of build out of Hayes Memorial Garden.
* This is a short term enhancement for the bicycle parking area. This enhancement will
not comply with new building codes that would be in'place for major reconstruct of the
theatre.
