4. We need to do some analysis of using these fields only for Kidsports
activities. Much of the irritation seemed to stem around the adult leagues
and impacts caused specifically by adults. Mentioned were urinating along the
ditch and property lines and abusive language. Several people mentioned
during their testimony that they could accept the Kidsports activities and the
earlier potential of turning off the lights such as 9:30. Several people
talked to me after the meeting emphasizing that their issues were with the
adult leagues and not the kids leagues.
5. We probably need some analysis of a completely new site. Several
suggestions were made to go out further north into vacant lands beyond
existing neighborhoods. I think we need to do a cost assessment that includes
purchase of the land, parking lots, the complete installation of fields,
drainage and lights, backstops, etc. Council will need to understand what
that cost is. I believe several people will continue to push forward.
6. There are some issues that need to be addressed regardless of the lights.
The restrooms not being unlocked during Kidsports and other activities is an
important one to people. A couple of people testified regarding that issue.
A couple of people contacted me after the meeting regarding that issue.
Getting out some information to all of the Kidsports and adult league users
regarding parking in the neighborhoods is important.
7. We need to do some analysis about the availability of 4J fields. That was
mentioned several times during the meeting. Particularly addressed' was the
fact that 4J is eliminating activities because of Ballot Measure 5 so more
facilities should be available.
