So the details of this proposal
relate to the specific locations and timing for making that valuable connection.
Please consider these points, which are numbered for convenience of reference only:
1) There is no controversy regarding the city's proposed trail route from the BPA power
line easement uphill to the Ridgeline Trail proper, which could be referred to as the "upper
Headwaters Trail ". This proposal pertains to the lower section, connecting downhill from the
BPA easement to the Amazon greenway, which could be referred to as the "lower
Headwaters Trail ".
2) Rather than choosing between either a Canyon Drive trail head or a West Amazon trail
head, SEN proposes that collectively we proceed with both.
3) For general neighborhood accessibility, and considering established patterns of
significant use, SEN sees particular value in a West Amazon terminus for the Headwaters
Trail, recognizing and making use of the existing informal trail alignment along the
undeveloped West Amazon road right -of -way.
4) Because resources are limited in general, and because it could be inappropriate for
significant city resources to be spent developing trail sections with an uncertain long -term
future, SEN pledges that in the context of this proposal we would provide the necessary
volunteer labor and materials for pedestrian bridge construction, and volunteer labor for
ongoing trail maintenance along the West Amazon trail section.
www.Soufih page 1
