• r
• EUGENE Public Works
Maintenance
1820 Roosevelt Boulevard
Eugene, Oregon 97402
(503) 687 -5220
October 19, 1992
Russ Brink
Downtown Eugene Inc.
160 East Broadway
Eugene OR 97401
Subject: HOLIDAY TREE INSTALLATION
During the past several years, the City has contributed personnel, equipment
and materials towards the cutting, transporting, and erecting of a large tree
in the mall area for the holiday season. The City's Tree Crew and Mall Crew
have supplied most of this resource. The Tree Crew continues to face a large
back log of priority tree work. The Tree Crew and Mall Crew has reduced
staffing levels as a result of the Eugene Decisions process. This letter is
to notify you that City resources will no longer be available for the holiday
tree installation. In addition, you should be aware that reductions to the
Mall Crew mean that special requests for service will have to be prioritized
and addressed as resources are available.
We all believe the tree adds value to the downtown area during the holiday
season. I hope that you will be able to solicit alternative resources to
continue with this annual project. If I can provide any assistance to you,
please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Bob Hammitt
Public Works Maintenance Director
