7/1/04 The 5 -6 teens from the previous day (6/30/04) returned to the park. As
soon I saw them I called 911 as instructed by the operator. The police
talked with me about the situation, then went back and talked with the
main problem teen. I told the police I just wanted this boy removed from
my park and to have him banned from parks, they asked if I wanted to
press charges, and I told the police that it didn't matter to me as long as
the teens were removed permanently from my park. They went back over
to the teen and after 15 minutes of talking they handcuffed the main teen
and left without a word to me.
7/2/04 In the morning, upon trying to enter my supply room which is attached to
the bathrooms at my park, I discovered that "Die Bitch" had been written
on the door. "Bitch" was written in berries and "Die" was scratched onto
the door above it. I would not have given it a second thought except for
the fact that this occurred the morning after I had the teen that was
harassing me led off in handcuffs.
7/5/04 I saw a man within 15 feet of the wading pool pull a knife from his bag
that couldn't have been less than around 12 inches long. This man did not
look like he should be handling a knife. He then started to help his friend
cut his pants to make them into shorts. I walked over and very carefully
explained to him that he needs to be real careful brandishing this knife in
public. I was careful not to make him mad or upset because he was
holding a knife that appeared to come off the set of "Rambo." He was
polite and explained it he would put it away. It did not appear that he
would present a further threat.
7/9/04 2 police officers were waiting outside the bathrooms at my park. I went
over there to say hi and they held their finger up the their mouth (the
international signal for "be quiet ") so I walked away. One more officer
arrived and they made one man sit on the ground and got his story while
continuing to wait for the other man in the other bathroom. The officers
questioned these men until we left at around 6: lOpm. No word was
relayed to us about what the situation concerned.
7/13/04 While I was working at another park, a boy, about 9 years old, thought it
appropriate to bring a real looking B.B. gun to the park. He was told that
this was not an appropriate item to bring to the park and he returned home
with it and then came back to the park without his gun.
7/14/04 A domestic dispute occurred. It was between a man and his wife. It was
overheard that he cheated on him. She began to beat him up, he did not
retaliate. She was apparently being very violent and brutal towards her
husband. The police were called and the dispute ended.
