Neighborhood Leaders Council <br /> Brainstorming Session on Citizen Involvement— 1/13/98 <br /> Ideas for Improvement: High Priorities <br /> NLC members were then given 7 dots to indicate priorities. <br /> # of Dots Idea for Improvement <br /> 5 Funding for 6 mailings /yr for Neighborhood groups so there is viable, ongoing <br /> communication and alert people on what's important. <br /> Increase $= Increase communication = Increase meetings = Increase involvement <br /> 5 Impact- oriented citizen communication - specifically, what does this policy mean <br /> - what long -term and short-term changes will result? <br /> 5 Update or create neighborhood refinement plans. <br /> 5 City needs to reprioritize services and funding, eliminate subsidies to business and <br /> development, before asking citizens for more taxes. All revenue options - <br /> including dedicated revenues - must be considered. <br /> 4 Councilors should spend more time attending neighborhood meetings in their <br /> ward. <br /> 4 Create a "grants" program for neighborhood projects. Fund "grants" budget each <br /> year, annual application and award process. <br /> II -5 <br />
