iv. Representative examples of the best work from local <br /> and other Northwest pioneers in rhododendron culture <br /> and hybridizing. <br /> 3. Design, a sensitive and thoughtful presentation <br /> a. All details of site modification, tree canopy management, <br /> construction material and form specifications shall be the <br /> exclusive province of qualified landscape design profes- <br /> sional for the following purposes: <br /> i. A conceptual Master Plan which, though only schematic <br /> in depth, indicates the general scope and pattern of <br /> the Garden as projected over a period of 20 years or <br /> more. <br /> ii. A General Plan of each phase of development establish- <br /> ing visual orientation of the Garden to the regional <br /> topography and the City, patterns of internal visual <br /> interconnections, circulation systems, and other <br /> matters of the overall architecture of the Garden. <br /> iii. Detailed plans of plant composition and designs for <br /> ornamental and public convenience structures included <br /> in each individual garden unit, and for subsequent <br /> modifications and revisions of such plans. <br /> iv. Direct supervision of all construction projects, <br /> o whether executed by contract or by force account. <br /> 4. Maintenance, an effective culture <br /> a. Permanent and temporary personnel retained for the opera - <br /> tion of the Garden shall be responsible for the following <br /> duties: <br /> i. Growing mediums and mulching, fertilization, irriga- <br /> tion, pest and disease control, turf and ground cover <br /> maintenance, pruning and plant replacement. <br /> •ii. Weed and trash control, equipment operation, mainten- <br /> ance of buildings, park fixtures, public information <br /> systems and circulation and drainage systems. <br /> iii. Supervision of public use. <br /> iv. Management of propagation and nursery programs. <br /> v. Development and direction of lay volunteer resources. <br /> vi. Management of work plans, budget requests and budget <br /> control systems. <br />
