said he would get clarification on this issue. Here is the clarification. Jim Slemp said, "Kidsports can
recruit during the school day for volleyball for this year only and all other recruitment must be done
before or after school, not during class, lunch or recess." Jim also told John Crane that use of facilities
for volleyball would receive a top priority at middle schools and that in general, Kidsports would have
the same amount of time and space as the regular school programs had. Other uses of facilities would
be as in past years.
7. Review of IGA: Bill reviewed pertinent areas of the IGA. No changes were suggested. It was
agreed at our next meeting to discuss if recommendations need to be made regarding advertising
signage.
8. Other: Guest, Julia Pommert, AYSO Board member, said AYSO would like to develop a single
site in Eugene where they could play all of their games. Bill suggested they discuss usage of the
synthetic fields with the City for community time.
Pat Radostitz, a Sheldon area neighbor sitting in for Arnold Hultberg, brought a list of several items
needing clarification.
a. There is much confusion for neighbors when it comes to whom to talk to about what. Andrea
suggested we (the City & 4J) should identify who is responsible for what. Once that's done,
we'll be able to tell folks who to talk to about their specific concern. Meanwhile, Bill said
either he or Renee could tell neighbors with whom to talk.
b. Neighbors were to have access to fields & the community center. The present system is not
working. Gates remain locked and locks keep changing with no new keys available. Bill
suggested Jeff, Renee and Steve Howard need to get together and figure out what to do to fix
the problem.
c. There is concern regarding adequate parking for additional seating going in at Sheldon. Bill
explained that the parking study 4J did showed parking was adequate to accommodate 2000
seats. People are already on site, they will just get to sit down now that seating is available.
d. There is no process in place for when "other" field usage (JV, Kidsports, etc.) impacts the
neighborhood. How streets are used is a City traffic issue and not the jurisdiction of the User
Committee or the District.
9. Next meeting: Monday, August 27, 2001, in the Parr Room (confirmed). Time: 10:00 -11:30 a.m.
Minutes by Pat Bonney
