Ms. Nunn arrived.
Ms. Larison, seconded by Ms. Brand, moved to approve the minutes of October 11, 2007,
as amended. The motion passed unanimously.
7. Reports on Subcommittees
a. Outreach
Mr. Cooper said because of his employment he would excuse himself from the discussion and return later.
Ms. Behm said the ad hoc subcommittee appointed by former Chair Howard Bonnett to work on bridge
related issues had received a letter from the State requesting a meeting. That meeting needed to occur
soon, so the ad hoc committee and new chair would meet with them. She invited interested members to
participate. She said that ad hoc committee members intended to call each member and interview them to
ensure all voices were heard and that the ad hoc committee spoke with one voice when possible.
Ms. Behm assigned CPC members for each ad hoc subcommittee member to interview. Members of the
ad hoc committee were Ms. Behm, Mr. Sonnichsen, Ms. Mello, and Ms. Jones; after April, the ad hoc
committee would include Mr. Cooper. Mr. Richardson agreed to e-mail the most recent ad hoc
committee roster to members.
Mr. Biggs arrived.
Responding to a question from Ms. Brand, Ms. Behm said the ad hoc committee will share the project
goals related to the park with members and request their input. She encouraged members to visit the park
to prepare for the interview.
Ms. Behm said the ad hoc committee was also talking to bicycle riders. Ms. Mello suggested that
members investigate the detour for the bicycle path along the canoe canal.
Mr. Sonnichsen said he would provide members with the link to the Oregon Department of Transporta-
tion (ODOT) project Web site.
Ms. Reddoor arrived.
b. Signage
Ms. Nunn reported that one of the signs was sent back for revisions because of an inaccurate depiction of
Kalapuya life. Susan Applegate was doing a substitute depiction, which should be ready soon. She was
contacted by Beth Stein of Nearby Nature, who wanted to revise the park map included in the organiza-
tion's park brochure and was seeking to install more park signage that would correspond to their map and
the names the organization used for different areas. She did not know if they were using the same name
but thought it worth discussion.
MINUTES —Citizen Planning Subcommittee of the January 10, 2008 Page 2
Whilamut Natural Area
