• Inquire about notification for RAC meeting processes and begin that process if <br /> needed during the 120 day detail. <br /> 2. Volunteer Coordination Coordinates all volunteer programs on the district. The <br /> coordinator works with District and resource area employees to recruit volunteers for a <br /> variety of programs within the district. The coordinator works with community <br /> organizations matching volunteer opportunities with the organization and district <br /> programs. The coordinator ensures that all volunteer training and documentation meets <br /> bureau and District regulations, policies, and guidelines. <br /> Duties will require coordination with supervisor and may require consulting with retired <br /> Public Affairs Officer. <br /> • Follow up on the briefing provided by the Public Affairs Officer concerning the <br /> volunteer program. <br /> • Work with District staff that use volunteers to acquire information about use of <br /> volunteers. This includes Recreation, Wildlife, and Willamette Valley Service <br /> center. <br /> • <br /> o Ensure that all volunteers are working with a current volunteer agreements <br /> and have received the proper training for safety. <br /> • Make contact with SO and WO Volunteer program leads to ensure that <br /> information concerning the volunteer program is shared with Managers, <br /> Supervisors, and District Staff. Ensure that all data calls are responded to in a <br /> timely manner. <br /> 3. Public Outreach As defined by the Field Manager, the position will represent the <br /> Siuslaw resource area on a variety of programs including contact with special user <br /> groups, partnership opportunities, and opportunities focusing on volunteers and <br /> environmental education. The position may also support other programs on the Eugene <br /> District as needed. <br /> • Follow -up on the Siuslaw Estuary partnership assignment given by the Field <br /> Manager. Attend the Public Education and Stewardship Committee meetings. <br /> • Further assignments will be forthcoming. <br /> 4. Environmental Education Prepare a District Environmental Education Strategy. <br /> Coordinate all environmental education programs on the District. Work with the District <br /> and Resource area staff to support environmental education programs on the District. <br /> Identify funding opportunities, through approved procedures in compliance with all <br /> ethics regulations, for environmental education programs. Work with District Staff <br /> to ensure adequate staff is available to support the appropriate environmental education <br /> programs (i.e. Salmon Watch, Forests Today and Forever, etc.). Coordinate the <br /> District's role in Citizen Science. The coordinator will be the principal contact for all <br /> environmental education on the Eugene District. <br /> • Continue with the Environmental Education Strategy that was presented to the <br /> CLT. <br /> • Meet with District Staff that are involved with on -going Environmental Education <br /> programs i.e. Salmon Watch. <br />
