purpose. Would you be willing to contact Jim Johnson to waive the fees and
make this happen? It is my understanding that the crew would be available to
begin work during the week of August 21st.
The next phase would be to re- evaluate this area and determine if tree thin-
ning is necessary. Some of the work in this area may need Army Corps of
Engineers approval. This is planned for the fall and winter months after the
leaves are off the trees.
HIGH PRIORITY: South bank from Ferry Street Bridge to the Washing-
ton /Jefferson Street Bridge.
PARCS and Public Works will begin working on this section during the -week of
August 21st. PARCS will have their slope mower and Public Works will have
the unimog working this section. Public Works will make the unimog available
at least three days a week from August 21 to September 15. Public Works will
train a PARCS employee to run the unimog so that it can be utilized to the
fullest extent during this project. The unimog is necessary for the fall
leaf pick up program so it is not available from October 13, 1989, to January
1, 1990.
MEDIUM PRIORITY: West bank north of Owosso Bridge
The Wastewater Treatment Plant will begin clearing this area during the week
of August 21, 1989. They will use our bulldozer to do this work and level
the area so it can be rough mowed in the future. I estimate that they will
have this area opened up by September 8, 1989. It is likely that some hand
labor will be needed after that date. The Wastewater Treatment Plant will be
responsible for long term maintenance of this area.
MEDIUM PRIORITY: North bank of the river from Ferry Street Bridge to
Greenway Bridge.
Public Works Maintenance will begin performing visual access clearing in this
area about September 18th. The bulldozer and unimog will be utilized to do
the majority of this work. It will need to be followed up with some hand
labor work.
MEDIUM PRIORITY: South bank just west of Greenway Park.
Public Works will perform visual clearing on that area with the bulldozer and
unimog after leaf season, about January 15th.
MEDIUM PRIORITY: West bank north of Stults Avenue.
The bulldozer will be used to clear this pocket of blackberries during Febru-
ary 1990.
LOW PRIORITY: West bank north of Hillcrest.
Before this area is cleared, Lane County needs to complete the storm sewer
system. PARCS has been negotiating this with the county and the project is
now scheduled as part of the River Road widening scheduled for next summer.
