MEDLIN Johnny R
From: Arthur Farley [art @cs.uoregon.edu]
Sent: Wednesday, May 12, 2004 3:45 PM
To: MEDLIN Johnny R
Cc: Arthur Farley
Subject: Parks Measure Work Session
Johnny..
below I include a sense of what we are currently
thinking we would like to support. We will be trying
to get support from several groups in town (and their
feedback) with respect to this,,,, Not sure what
staff will do to prepare for the work session...
Could we chat about that ? ??
The projects listed are probably a superset of what
can be funded, but to give an idea.
346 -3414
thanks,
art
In response to Council questions regarding details, below please find our ideas regarding
the two parks measures we are advocating be placed on the fall ballot. These could serve
as starting points for your discussions and staff efforts.
Proposed Parks Ballot Measures
I. Parks Operation and Maintenance Local Option Levy $2 million
over 4 years
$400,000 first two years
$600,000 second two years
Estimated tax rate less than $10 /year for $200,000 home
Staff has indicated they have had a flat budget since 1998 and had
anticipated
some increase ($300k) as new parks came on line.
II. Parks Acquisition and Development Bond Measure $14 million
The measure that passed (by nearly a 3:1 margin) in 1998
was for $28 million. Thinking of this as an continuation measure,
we see asking for half as much. Below is our sense of allocations,
with candidate projects areas.
Recreation ($3.5 million)
Echo Hollow Pool Renovation and Expansion
Multi -Use Fields Development
Work with 4J to refurbish or crreate new faciliities
Ida Patterson School Fields
Trainsong Park Ballfield
Adams Elementary (2 fields)
Jefferson Middle School (2 fields)
Spring Creek and Awbry Park Schools (2 fiields) River Road /Santa Clara
Kinney Loop school site North of Crescent
1
