Date: 07/12/93
From: Dave Ritter CEWMDPR - RIS1
To: Bob Hammitt CEWMJRH - RIS1
Gene Shutt CEWMEGS - RIS1
Richard Zucker CEWMRXZ - RIS1
Jack Long CEWMJEL - RIS1
Subject: Richardson Bridge Area
Reference: Note attached below
Below is a note I sent to Les regarding a conversation he had with Jack today.
The area that is being refered to is the swamp land between Buck St and Quaker.
Apparently it isnt on the wetland map yet but someone has identified it as a
wetland. If Les wants the ditch filled back in we can do it. I do feel though
that any future calls /complaints on this should be directed to Deborah or Ed.
This is nothing more then a swamp area that was never sloped right to allow for
runoff. If the ditch is filled in and water is left no escape it is going to
put water onto abutting property owners. DR
ATTACHED NOTE
Date: 07/12/93
From: Dave Ritter CEWMDPR - RIS1
To: Les Lyle CEWELAL - RIS1
Subject: Richardson Bridge Area
Les, Jack talked with me about the ditching that was done near the Richardson B
ridge. The area that was drained has been a bog for as long as I can remember.
Several years back when doing the paving, etc for Richardson Bridge we stubbed
out the drain in order to give the water somewhere to drain to. The reason we
went in this summer to re -ditch that area(approx 200') was from several calls /c
omplaints from abutting property owners in that area. Complaints ranged from m
osquitos to water backing up onto their property. Most were not pleased with t
he situation. Jack indicated that you now wanted the ditch filled back in. I
dont have a problem doing that and if we are to do that I will also cap of the
drain. I would like to know who I should direct the calls /complaints to in the
future? I am sure this area meets the description of a wetland but only becau
se it never had the proper slope to drain water like it should have. Let me kn
ow just what you want done out there? I do know though that there is going to
be some angery property owners who abutt the swamp. DR
♦ w
