properties on the north and south side of the street and daylights at outlet #60128
and #60129. During heavy storm events, this inlet routinely backs up and floods
this portion of the street. Maintenance has not been able to locate the two outlets •
of the pipe. The City has no easement to the pipe and it is assumed that it is either
blocked, collapsed, or has been removed. Recommended Solution: Replace inlet
with a standard catch basin. Connect catch basin to a piped system which
would run west on Van and install a manhole at the intersection of Van
and the dedicated right of way of South Street (currently a greenway with a
bicycle- pedestrian path). A pipe would then run north up the South Street right
of way and connect to existing manhole #61146. Include installation of curb on
north side of Van at the greenway- bikepath area and an additional catch
basin in a low point near the west end of the proposed new curb section and
connect to the proposed new manhole.
Status: New Project 3/97
11. Location: Fir Crest (near Hendricks Park)
Nature of Problem: An inadequate drainage system at the intersection of Fircrest
and Sylvan has created heavy runoff from bubbler catch basin #53536. Water is
frequently being directed away from the gutter on the west side of the street and
entering driveways on the downhill east side, creating drainage problems for
residents.
Recommended Solution: Piped storm line connection from structure #53712 to
#53537.
Status: As a City maintenance project, inlet #53537, located in the ditch on the
south side of Sylvan at the intersection with Fir Crest was lowered, with a sloping
concrete reveal added to improve drainage. The recipient bubbler catch basin
#53536 was moved approximately 40' to the north to prevent the runoff from
entering the driveways on the east side of Fir Crest. Although there have been no
reported flooding complaints from residents since this work was completed, a
drainage problem still exists in this area. This could be solved with the installation
of a piped system with an additional manhole and catch basins, where needed,
running north to manhole #53712.
12. Drainage problems /issues to be addressed with other improvement projects:
- Ayres Rd. - Catch basin to Meltebecke private system corrected major flooding
problem, but still should be connected to piped system of proposed Ayres Rd. improve-
meats.
- Terry St. /Cone Ave. - 42" dia. outlet #66597 to open drainage ditch running northwest -
capacity problem and no drainage easement. May be addressed with new Terry St.
97rdub,rc 11/97 bne 6
