TASKS FOR PERMIT YEAR 4 (Continued) <br /> Task 2: • Write introduction article regarding problems associated with the quality of stormwater <br /> runoff to be published in appropriate trade journals and in neighborhood and business <br /> newsletters. Coordinate with activities conducted under BMP 0M2 (vegetation <br /> management program). <br /> • Develop and conduct one water- awareness workshop /seminar each year for community <br /> residents that provides information about disposal /storage practices and their impact on the <br /> quality of stormwater runoff. Develop video and handouts to support. <br /> • Develop a handout for distribution at presentations and neighborhood meetings that can <br /> also be used as a direct mail piece. <br /> • Continue presentations to community groups on stormwater pollution. Provide handouts. <br /> • Develop a flyer on how to store materials that contain harmful pollutants. Make it <br /> available to Eugene's Permit and Information Center for residents, builders, and <br /> contractors. <br /> Task 3: • Continue current efforts to distribute educational tabloids as discussed above under <br /> "Existing Conditions." <br /> • Produce a tabloid that will include information on methods for improving stormwater <br /> quality by (1) changing individual household disposal /storage practices, and (2) limiting the <br /> use of pesticides, fertilizers, and herbicides. Include descriptions of better yard - debris <br /> disposal methods and a list of nonpolluting household and yard products. <br /> Task 4: • Develop an ad campaign on this BMP, including a series of public service announcements <br /> for radio and television that will run intermittently throughout the year <br /> • Develop signs and brochures about how to care for, dispose, and safely store pollutants. <br /> Display and distribute at appropriate businesses. <br /> Task 5: • Work with elementary school teachers to place the video (discussed in "Existing <br /> Conditions" section) in area schools. <br /> • Work with school teachers to develop a unit on stormwater pollution and associated <br /> disposal /storage practices; create a teacher advisory committee. <br /> Task 6: • Educate local public agencies to ensure appropriate storage and disposal of harmful <br /> chemicals. <br /> Task 7: • Develop a volunteer program where volunteers distribute information at businesses. <br /> Task 8: • Work with state water - quality groups to enact legislation regarding the use of alternative <br /> products and disposal practices.
