Storm Water Sampling Points
The permittees shall monitor storm water from the sampling points specified in the approved
Storm Water Management Plan.,
2. Storm Selection Criteria
The permittees shall sample storms which are representative of climatic conditions within the
area served by the MS4 as specified in the approved Storm Water Management Plan.
3. Monitoring Frequency and Parameters to be Monitored '
Sampling of storms shall be conducted three times within each twelve month period following
permit issuance for the following parameters:
Item or Parameter Type of Sample
pH Grab
Hardness Flow weighted composite
5 -Day Biochemical Oxygen Demand Flow weighted composite w•
Total Suspended Solids Flow weighted composite
Total Dissolved Solids Flow weighted composite
Total phosphorous Flow weighted composite
Ortho phosphorous Flow weighted composite
Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen Flow weighted. composite
Nitrate + Nitrite Nitrogen Flow weighted composite
E. Coli bacteria Grab
Total copper Flow weighted composite
Total lead Flow weighted composite
Total zinc Flow weighted composite
Total cadmium Flow weighted composite
4. - Sampling Waiver
In the event the permittee is unable to collect or analyze any sample or pollutant parameter due
to circumstances beyond the permittee's control, a written explanation of the circumstances that
prevented the collection or analysis shall be submitted to the Department in the annual report.
The permittee shall exercise due diligence in collecting and analyzing all samples as required by
Schedule B. Circumstances beyond the control of the permittee may include abnormal climatic
conditions (e.g., fewer storms in the annual reporting period than typically are representative
of climatic conditions);' weather conditions that, make the collection or analysis of samples unsafe
or impracticable (e.g., storms of such intensity that sampling would present an unreasonable
safety risk); or unavoidable equipment failures caused by weather conditions or other conditions
' beyond the control of the permittee (provided that operator error is not a condition beyond the
control of the permittee). If more than one sampling event is missed at any stormwater sampling
point, then re- sampling at that point will occur within twelve months of the second missed storm
event.
