MORGAN FROM: ADRIAN STANSFIELD SUBJECT: 1994 WATERING SEASON Earlier this spring, when John Luther and I were preparing our watering list for the upcoming summer, I asked Jan how he was fixed for watering this year. Did he need any watering done by us. Jan told me at that time that he was working on it and did not think he was going to need anything. He said he was working on having the watering done by contract, but asked if he needed help, would I be available. I told him I would be, as long as I knew well enough in advance to cover it. John and I proceeded on our watering list, incorporating the last two years plantings and all the trees we had planted with our removal program this past season. Also included were trees planted by volunteers that I had worked with, such as the 12 trees planted at Westmoreland Park by the disc golf club. Toward the end of June, Jan asked if I would be able to take over some of the watering that was not getting done. I told him it depended on what he had and asked him to get me a list. On or about July 6th, I received a list of trees from Rome, with a total of 221 trees to be watered. The list was as follows: 795 W. 13th Ave. 1 889 W. 13th Ave. 3 Danebo school 15 Valley Rvr. Barger and Beltline) 130 W. 7th P1. 15 Carrow's (on 7th) 13 Charnel Mulligan Park 8 1900 Block of Villard (Median) 5 295 E. 13th 6 1200 High St. 2 &3 871 W. 5th Ave. 2 1265 Willamette (Kinko's) 1 Patterson Elem. School Near ball field 5 Kyle Tucker took the list and immediately started watering the trees. There was some confusion with Kyle on some of the locations because the numbers were not matching what Jan had on his list, so before Jan left for vacation, he gave me drawings, indicating where, specifically, trees were located at five sites; Ida Patterson school, 12th and High, the Valley River site, 7th Place and Carrows. At Ida Patterson school there were five trees on the list but six on the map, two of which were in questionable health, but have been put on our list to try and save. At 12th and High there are five trees, one of which is dead. At the Valley River site there are 12 trees on the list, 14 on the map, three of which are no longer there, ten are dead and one is being watered. The 7th Place site has 15 trees on the list and the map, two of which are gone, seven are dead and the remainder are being watered. At Carrows there are 13 on the list, 15 on the map, two of which are gone, seven are dead and the remainder being watered.
