IMPLEMENTATION OPTIONS
In our review of the work trends and the development of strategies, it became clear
that if we continue in our current mode, the number of outstanding work requests will
grow ever larger. In addition, if our proposed priority system is approved, it is likely,
given current staff levels and responsibilities, that much of the Class III and IV work
will not be completed. This suggests two options. The first is to maintain the current
service mix and increase staff. The second is to decrease workload to the level that the
current staff can keep it under control.
•
1. Maintain Current Services
If we are to move to our proposed priority system, increase our attention to potentially
hazardous trees and maintain our current service to the public without an unacceptable
increase in outstanding requests, an increase in staff is necessary. To successfully
implement this system will require a phase -in period of approximately 24 months and a
minimum labor force of five climbing qualified individuals. This configuration will allow
us to keep two two- person aerial lifts in regular operation. The section would be
staffed as follows:
Position Class Existing FTE Proposed FTE
•
