Final examinations are still under way; however, only 15 or so of the trees in an advanced state of decay
are anticipated to be removed at this time. The other trees will be monitored with a Tong -term goal of
establishing a healthy forest well- suited for the particular conditions in that area. A number of plants and
trees have already been planted in this area as part of the natural area restoration. The evaluation of the
remaining 1 13 trees from the consultant's report, including approximately 50 trees deemed potentially
hazardous by the consultant, will take place over the next year as staff work load allows.
Prior to any removals taking place, the trees proposed to be removed will be posted for a minimum of two
weeks, and an information session in the park will be scheduled so members of the public can ask
questions and provide comments directly to the Urban Forestry staff. For more information about the
Hendricks Park tree removals, call the Urban Forester at Public Works Maintenance, 682 -4800.
# ##
Page 2
