STREET TREE PLANTING POLICY <br /> DRAFT <br /> GOAL STATEMENT <br /> The Maintenance Division of the Public Works Department will strive to achieve <br /> the planting of a diverse selection of street trees wherever a place is <br /> available for such a planting to occur. <br /> (K 1. Only trees contained within the adopted planting list shall be planted <br /> within the street right -of -way without specific approval of the Urban <br /> Forester. - T," <br /> c, <br /> 2. A tree(s) will be provided at no cost to any requesting property owner <br /> who wishes to plant the tree in the public right -of -way as part of the <br /> NeighborWoods Program. A condition of this is that the property owner <br /> must be willing to provide water and early tree maintenance. <br /> 3. On request, a tree will be provided to any property owner to replace a <br /> tree which the City has been required to removed due to disease or poor <br /> health. An attempt shall be made to accomplish the tree replacement <br /> through the NeighborWoods program, however, failing this, the replacement <br /> shall be accomplished through the contracfrtree planting Program funded <br /> by the capital budget. A condition of this is that the property owner <br /> must be willing to provide water and early tree maintenance. V- <br /> \ <br /> 4. The City will replace all trees which are required to be removed from <br /> arterial streets due to disease or poor health. The replacement shall <br /> be accomplished through the contract tree planting program funded by the <br /> capital budget.
