RECEIVED.
BY CITY MANAr4rp
Hans P. Christofferson JUL 12 393
450 Horizon Road
Eugene, Oregon 97405 DISTIBU T ED TO:
1
CC
Thursday, July 8th, 1993 cR
1Wt.r1::MwC`.'f: . -.. _. .....
Mayor Ruth Bascom •,, • Y MGR
Eugene City Hall ' S0: ._ - ._ __ ✓/
cc
777 Pearl Street
• _ T Piz)
Eugene, Oregon 97401
J
Dear Mayor Bascom,
I am writing to you to voice my disappointment at your frivolous
and blatantly political use of your veto to the tree cutting ordinance.
This history of this ordinance - as you should well know - goes back
many years and the battle lines are clearly drawn between the
developers who care little for the land and ordinary citizens who
want to protect their environment. There is no need for a public
hearing. Nothing new will be brought to the table.
The developers main argument that they will bear unburdanable
costs is just so much hot air. Any additional costs incurred are
simply passed on to the buyer. As all developers are under the same
rules, no one has an advantage.
Your delaying veto simply allows developers to get the jump on any
new ordinance and accelerate their cutting. Stop protecting
developers.
Sincerely,
r..
Hans P. Christofferson
