STR Page 1 <br /> Local Street Plan <br /> Street Trees <br /> The ordinance provides for. <br /> 1. New street trees on intemal and external streets that are paid for by the development and installed and established by the City. <br /> 2. Meet the Urban Forestry Mangement Plan # 7 by giving the City more control in the selection and quality of new street trees and the effective <br /> establishment of these new trees. <br /> Ordinance Language for Street Trees <br /> a. Prior to the approval of a subdivision or partition final plat, the applicant shall deposit with the City an amount equal to the cost of purchase, <br /> installation and establishment of street trees. The sum shall be calculated on the interior and exterior streets at the rate of $200.00 per tree and <br /> one tree for every 30 linear feet of street right of way as indicated on the final subdivision or partition plat. <br /> b. In non - residential developments a street tree plan shall be part of the final approved landscape plan. There shall be an average of one street <br /> tree every 30 feet of linear street right of way for both intemal and extemal streets. The street tree plan shall follow urban forestry standards and <br /> specifications and be approved by the Urban Forester. <br /> c. Existing street trees shall be retained unless approved for removal by the Urban Forester during during site development or in conjunction with <br /> a street construction project. Any street tree removed shall be replaced within the street right of way. <br /> Notes <br /> 1. The establishment period is for three years after the time of planting. Establishment includes watering, initial pruning and replacement if <br /> needed for a period of three years. <br /> 2. This approach will enable the City to communicate to the new homeowner about their new tree and the City's Urban Forestry Program. <br /> 3. The cost for street trees could be reduced if the new property owner waters the tree for three years during the establishment period. <br /> 4. Given an escrow account, these funds deposited should cover administrative costs as well. <br />
