MEDLIN Johnny R
From: FERGUSON Joe M
To: PLAMONDON Scott F; LOWE Allen D
Cc: MEDLIN Johnny R
Subject: RE: Street Trees for Development
Date: Monday, July 17, 1995 3:57PM
Scott, couple of quick comments
-- Tree requirements should apply to all developments that include dedication or improvement to public
r /w, not just plats. Hopefully where we're headed with this whole process is some standard conditions
which can be referenced in various application approval criteria.
-- Leave the rate and spacing as " standards adopted by City Mgr or designee" or included in standards
and specifications adopted by City Engineer, as with other improvements in the public r /w. Keep out of
Chapter 9.
-- in b. better define "urban forestry standards" - something like "according to the whims of the Urban
Forester." We already have spec's for the stock and the planting procedures. If issue is compatibility, or
different objectives for different types of streets, or canopy spread, or blockage of views in south hills, will
probably need some specific guidelines.
-- In Note 4, will we actually use an escrow account? You can set up accounts @ Finance which should
be interest - bearing. Are you considering an option where homeowner is involved, or developer gets
unused balance?
-- Is this intended to apply to infill permits on existing improved r /w? If so, who's monitoring? Checking
bldg plans? Would we collect the $200 with bldg permits?
From: PLAMONDON Scott F
To: LOWE Allen D
Cc: MEDLIN Johnny R; FERGUSON Joe M
Subject: Street Trees for Development
Date: Friday, July 14, 1995 8:22AM
Alien, Attached you will find the first draft of the language
for the requirement of street trees. Please review, modify
and get back to me for further discussion or additional
information. Thanks Scott< <File Attachment: STRECODE> >
Page 1
