Ms. Johnston has more than 20 years experience with various aspects of public relations,
partnership building, and team leadership, including four years as a city council member. Her communication and
networking skills are exemplary. She works successfully with staff in corporations, school districts, and non - profit
agencies. Ms. Johnston has worked extensively in community development. She has keen business sense and considerable
experience in project management for non - profits, businesses, and the Bureau of Land Management. Her educational experiences include studying in
Rome, Italy, for one year. During her schooling she became deeply interested in building "within the context of place" in
both urban and natural settings. After working with an architectural firm that specialized in school design, she relocated to
Oregon to live in an area that is more connected to its surroundings. In 1994 she started working with WBGS Architecture
and Planning and obtained her Architectural License. At WBGS, she has developed into a project manager with great
sensitivity to client needs, clear direction for organizing projects, and the ability to bring all the project partners together
to work as a team. During this teamwork process she excels at bringing the visions, ideas and practical aspects of a project
into a "built reality" that meets or exceeds client goals. On Project IEP, Ms. Lawson will: (a) serve as the primary owner
contact, (b) coordinate staff and consultants, (c) coordinate owner's meetings, (d) be involved in design refinement of the
drawings and the program documents, (e) work with Funk & Associates on the fundraising document design,
(f) participate in the Interpretive Planning process, (g) coordinate contacts with WBGS administration regarding contract
and billings, (h) contribute to federal progress reports, and (i)participate in evaluation and dissemination.
14
