Metropolitan Sports Commission <br /> Meeting notes, January 22, 1996 <br /> Page 2 <br /> Development Department. Steve will make contact with Hal Reed and keep the <br /> Commission informed through Howard. <br /> Marketing Committee Report <br /> Tom Jordan handed out a market survey rough draft and cover letter intended to be <br /> signed by Mayor Bill. Refer additions or suggestions to Tom and he will bring them <br /> back for approval. Contact him at 687 -1989 or FAX # 687 -1016. <br /> Participation Committee Report <br /> Bob Josephson reported on their survey which was sent out to the Schools. One survey <br /> has come back from South Eugene. He has tabulated the responses and was surprised <br /> by the request from girls to have flag football and interest in Ultimate Frisbee. By the <br /> next meeting he hopes to have more responses and more technical detail. <br /> Announcements and other business <br /> Howard read Al King's letter of resignation. His position now needs to be filled. <br /> Connie Jacqua, Bob Josephson and Charles Warren are on the Sub - Committee to <br /> review the At -Large applications and to make recommendations to the Commission at <br /> the next meeting. <br /> The Commission discussed the motion to move the meetings to Bi- monthly, and agreed <br /> to try a bi- monthly schedule beginning immediately. <br /> Eugene 4 -J Schools endorsed the Sports Plan. Questions which were raised by the <br /> Board were forwarded to the District's long range planning committee. <br /> Mayor Bill suggested that we should invite Special Olympics to MSC, and there should <br /> be a mention in the Sports Plan for special needs. Mayor Bill will also contact the <br /> Police Athletic League regarding accommodation of special needs. <br /> Next meeting will be March 18, at the University of Oregon Casanova Center <br /> conference room, 2727 Leo Harris Parkway, Eugene, Oregon. <br />
