Metropolitan Sports Commission <br /> Minutes of July 24, 1995 <br /> The Metropolitan Sports Commission met at the Kidsports in Springfield, hosted by Bob <br /> Josephson. {' <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Barbara Keller, City of Eugene; Steve Cornacchia, Lane <br /> County Commissioner; Sal Pia77a, CVALCO; Steve Barrett, Springfield School District; <br /> Jim Denker, Eugene 4J School District; Sandra Vaughan, University of Oregon; and <br /> AT -LARGE COMMISSIONERS Melanie Harvey, Connie Jaqua, Charles Warren, and Al <br /> King. <br /> ALTERNATE COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Tom Bolden, Kidsports; Christie <br /> Davids, Lane Community College. <br /> ALSO ATTENDING: Jim Johnson, City of Eugene; Susan Belanger, Ice Sports; Mike G f <br /> Ritchey, University of Oregon; Larry Mann, LCC; Dan Alch, The Academy; Susan <br /> Daluddung, Howard Wade and Kaye Wilson, City of Springfield. <br /> Barbara Keller opened the meeting and the minutes were approved as written. <br /> Specialty Sport <br /> Jim Johnson recommended not designating a specialty sport at this time Implementation .t <br /> of the SportsPlan was being held up by the designating process. Steve Cornacchia <br /> discussed the issue of baseball not being mentioned in the plan. Barbara Keller noted that <br /> we did not have private organizations strategies cited in the plan. <br /> Al King moved that we adopt the Sports Plan as a list of Community priorities and <br /> programs with no specialty sport designated other than track. <br /> Steve Cornacchia suggested that we need to recognize baseball organizations. <br /> Connie Jaqua suggested that we provide flexibility for updates as information as it <br /> becomes available. Also would like us to keep SportsPlan open to other groups in order <br /> to accept new wording as appropriate. <br /> NEW AMENDMENT WORDING <br /> Sandy Vaughn suggested we use a broader statement in the Sports Plan to keep it open <br /> for other groups. An amendment was voted on and approved to provide flexibility. The <br /> change will show up in the Plan, page 12. <br />
