NEW WORDING <br /> Through the Metropolitan Sports Commission, form a sub committee with primary <br /> responsibility for: a) effectively coordinating the scheduling and use of existing sports <br /> facilities; b) inventorying and cataloging the condition of existing facilities and their <br /> potential for upgrading and or enhancement; and c) discussing the effective maintenance <br /> of existing facilities. <br /> An amendment to the plan was suggested to include baseball. To support the efforts of <br /> private sports organizations to maintain and construct youth baseball fields in Springfield <br /> and Eugene. It was voted on and approved. See page 13, action 8. <br /> Moved and approved: The Commission adopts the Sports Plan with no specialty Sport. <br /> Report from Implementation Sub- Committee <br /> Barbara Keller, Connie Jaqua and Charles Warren recommended: <br /> (1) Commission should adopt the sports plan. <br /> (2) Each commissioner should arrange endorsement from the agency they represent. (Let <br /> Howard know when it happens, 726 -3785) <br /> (3) The formation of committees for Marketing, Facilities and Participation. A Sports <br /> Plan Implementation sign -up sheet was passed around for committee preferences. <br /> Members were to meet after the Commission meeting and arrange a time and place for <br /> their committee's first meeting. <br /> Update on Events <br /> Rotary Classic was a huge success. There were well over 100 soccer teams this year. <br /> Eugene City Council endorsed Sports Plan, also asked for $9,000 for SportsPlan <br /> implementation position. <br /> Announcements <br /> University of Oregon will renovate Esslinger Hall. <br /> Next Meeting <br /> No meeting was scheduled for August. Next meeting will be September 25, at the U of 0 <br /> Casanova Center, adjacent to Autzen Stadium. <br />
